Australasian Project
Manins brings a unique Trans-Tasman perspective to New Zealand jazz and currently performs throughout Australasia and the Pacific regions.
Roger Manins Bernie McGann Australasian project was created and put together by Manins originally for the Wellington Jazz Festival 2009 as a Trans-Tasman collaboration of cherished Australian and New Zealand artists. It features the stunning interplay between Manins, McGann and Dewhurst.
In Wellington, Paul Dyne and Reuben Bradley completed the line up - swinging like crazy - and for gig at the University of Auckland they were joined by the wonderfull Ron Samsom on drums and Oliver Holland on bass. It was a logical line up for Manins, with 20 years of history playing with Dewhurst in many different situations in Australia, and after featuring as special guest with the Bernie McGann quartet for SIMA at the Sound Lounge in 2006 and 2007, including a live recording soon to be released on Rufus records (Aust).
The Australiasian project is an on-going project and will hopefully crop up with variations in the South Pacific region |
